Oh yes thats right, a destination wedding in Mozambique!
I met Pim and Kate while shooting a friend of their’s – Kelvin and Amanda – wedding. As I usually do after a wedding, I put my cameras down and joined the party. While at the bar I was ambushed by these epic humans who ordered me a shooter and said “You are shooting our wedding in Mozambique!” We threw back our drinks and, while pulling tequila faces, shook on it. Best client meeting ever!
I have said it before…destination weddings rock my world. I flew to Vilanculos, Mozambique where we headed straight to paradise – Archipelago Resort. This would be my office and home for the next 4 days.
The day before the wedding we went on a boat trip to one of the islands where we splashed about in the beautiful waters and ate all the seafood under the sun.
The day of the wedding, feeling a little sun-kissed, it was time to shine. While the boys played guitar and poker the girls were enjoying the morning with some champers.
If there is one thing that stands out for me about this wedding it’s the colours..so many amazing colours! It might have been the hottest day yet so we waited as long as we could before suiting up. When it was time for the ceremony, the weather had changed…the wind picked up and I feared the worst. Luckily though it blew past and the ceremony went beautifully. Pim and Kate are huge dog lovers and I think the local dogs felt the love as they seemed to have strolled in to witness the big moment.
One of my ideas required dedication from the newly weds. On our last day I got them to wake up at 5am, put on their wedding outfits and hit the beach. This was the highlight of the trip.
The ocean and sun played their part to create some magical moments and it was a perfect way to end off my fantastic time with these two and their amazing friends.
