Marco & Laura – A Spanish wedding.
For those of you that follow my work you will know that in September I was flown to Barcelona to shoot a wedding.
If you missed my previous blog about the pre-wedding shoot I did with Marco and Laura at Barcelona’s oldest amusement park, I suggest you go check it out HERE.
Marco is Italian and Laura Spanish. They meet in Scotland in 2006, lost in translation. They wanted the wedding to have elements of all three countries as each holds a special place for them. On a whole the wedding was similar to many I have shot in South Africa, but there were some differences that surprised me. For example, Laura got ready in her mom’s flat where she grew up. This seemed normal enough until everyone she had invited to the wedding (and even some who weren’t) started arriving. Suddenly, I had about 40 people all crammed into a flat wanting to see the bride while I was trying to get some “getting ready shots”. Luckily I got some before the “Spanish armada” arrived. They turned out great and she looked amazing!
Sadly Laura’s father is no longer with us but I thought it important to involve him in the festivities. I love the shot.
I love the way the Spanish welcome the bride and groom to the wedding reception. Everyone ceremoniously bangs on the table and waves their serviettes in the air in anticipation of their arrival.
