Rachel and Jason were my first international clients. They wrote to me from the UK and were like “Hey, we love what you do will you shoot our wedding at the Ghost Mountain Inn, Mkuze”…to which I replied (playing hard to get)
Ghost mountain Inn has a history to back up its Name. The mountain has seen its share of battles. I had first read about the Mountain years ago in the book “Trekking on” by probably my favorite South African historical figure Deneys Reitz, where in about 1920 hearing that the local tribe would not dare venture near the Mountain he went to investigate and found the mountain littered with skeletons of warriors from a time past…. Wait, what is this blog about? Weddings , that’s right..
We started off early with a game drive at the Mkuze Game Reserve nearby. Africa really put on a show for the UK guests as we were treated to a full-on giraffe fight between two bulls over a lovely cow who was munching away on a nearby tree. Then we witnessed the most spectacular elephant sighting I have ever seen, we counted over 100 as all 3 herds in the park came to have a drink at the same watering whole.
Being December, we were worried that a summer storm might gate crash the party which would have been not so fun as the reception was all outdoors under an amazing tree. Luckily the rain stayed away.
Jason being PortaGreek and Rachel a Pom we had quite fun selecting the best parts of the wedding traditional from each culture. The Greek being the most fun as we smashed a million plates on the floor. The whole day turned out to be epic. Everyone drank and got very merry by the end, just in time to get some funnies at the photobooth.
Anyway enough chitchat here the pics☺
